Udaybhansinhji Regional Institute of Cooperative Management is one of the five Regional Institutes of Co-operative Management in the country, administered by the NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR CO-OPERATIVE TRAINING, training wing of National Co-operative Union of India (NCUI), New Delhi. This Institute caters to the training requirements of executives of cooperatives, department of Co-operation and other Government departments connected with cooperative movement of the State. The training programmes cover all the major areas of executive functions and all vital sectors of Cooperative management in order to infuse professionalism.

The mission of this Institute is to facilitate in building cadres of professional managers to hold key position in ever growing numbers of cooperatives in the State through organization of Management Development Programs, Training, Research & Consultancy, Seminar, Workshop, etc.,

To strengthen and infuse professionalisation in Management of Cooperatives.

To provide opportunities to officers of Cooperative Department as well as Institutions of the State to horn their skills through exposure to modern management concepts, methods and techniques.

The Institute has free medical check-up facility for the trainee officers on regular basis. The part-time medical service of an experienced Medical Officer from Government is made available to the participants of various training programmes.

The long duration training programmes, consists of Certificate course on Computers covering Network Security, Data Base Management, RDBMS etc., Diploma in Industrial Cooperative Management is organized for Defense personnel and the six months core programme i.e. Higher Diploma in Cooperative Management. Apart from these we organize short term programmes of varying durations. These programmes are combination of Atomization in Banks, cost reduction programme for processing sector like sugar and dairy, managerial skill development programmes for cooperative sector, etc. good number of programmes for women in collaboration with International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and other developing agencies. Considering the strengthening requirement of Junior Training Centers we organize capacity building programmes under central sector scheme for the lecturers and Cooperative Education Instructors. Cooperative Education, Cooperative Accounts & Audit, Cooperative Law & allied Laws, Financial Management, Fisheries, HRD & Communication, Rural Godown Programmes etc are the other areas of our functioning. In 2007-2008 till February the institute has organized 03 long duration and 48 short duration programmes.

The participants are exposed to real world situation through cases and class-room Teaching is supplemented by appropriate teaching techniques like group discussion, role play, debates, film show on management, exercises, class tests, quizzes and term tests etc.
